Joe & Chris Genc

Our layout is an Fn3 (1:20.3) narrow-gauge mining and logging railroad set in the 1920s. Like most model railroads it continues to be a work in progress. Look for the Whispering Cannon Mining Complex in the center of the layout. Many of the models are powered or may actually work in the future. The mine will eventually be fully lighted. The Cannon Paper Mill also is nearing completion and will have additional details added in the future. There are two curved tunnels and one small town on the layout.

A deep ravine and dry river bed, with a spanning bridge runs by the Whispering Cannon Mine. On display near the paper mill is a scale scratch-built pile driver model and a track-laying machine modeled from old photographs. Motive power is provided by some of our twenty Bachmann Spectrum locomotives.

Rolling stock includes forty Spectrum and Accucraft cars. The two control systems were scratch built and are housed inside of buildings on the layout. Make sure you pick up your copy of the Cripple Creek Railroad Story. This railroad is 7-years old and has approximately 350 feet of track.
