I started my layout in 1991 after visiting the National Convention in Cincinnati. It started out as a single rectangular
layout with a passing siding. Over the next several years we added other tracks, including a double ended reversing loop. We have a tunnel, and a long trestle that is part of the reversing loop. We now have four tracks that are independent of each other, so we can run four trains at once. The tracks pass near each other, I like the view as trains pass by each other. I have sound systems in my engines, and various buildings spread out in the layout. The name of our Garden Railroad, "The Blue Lake and Roma", comes from our love of gardening, we have a large vegetable garden where we grow a lot of Blue Lake bush beans and Roma tomatoes. This year's project includes taking up the original part of the track, and replacing the boards it is mounted on with synthetic plastic underlayment |
